This paper examines the question of whether hypnosis is real. While initially, that query seemed to be a relatively simple and straightforward one to answer, the more that one considers the evidence about this issue the more difficult it becomes to provide a straightforward answer to that seemingly straightforward question. The conclusion that this paper draws is that while there is certainly something that should be considered to be a hypnotic state that is measurable through objective means it is also the case that many of the attributes that are often associated with being hypnotized are clearly not an accurate representation of what it is like to be hypnotized.

703.16865 Gender Differences in Awareness of Disabilities
In this study we used 70 students to test the difference between the way male and female students understand and explain their disabilities. Since our test pool does not contain any known members with actual disabilities, we created a placebo pool. The way we assessed how the students characterized their disabilities is by using the Academic Attributional Style Questionnaire (AASQ). We did this by gathering the explanatory style scores of 38 persons with a placebo disability (PWPD) and 32 persons not placebolly disabled (PNPD).

In this paper, we will provide an assessment of the character Elizabeth from the movie Don?t Say a Word. Though Elizabeth is a fictional character, much can be learned from trying to understand who she is, and what her illness is. Because this is a work of fiction and is a film, we can gain insight into who Elizabeth is from an interesting point of view. This point of view is literary, and from a fly on the wall perspective. The significance of this is that when we as consolers try to understand who a patient is and what it is that disturbs the patient, we may be inadvertently alerting how the patient responds. It is the classic case of the observer affecting the observed object. We can not avoid this. But, in this case, were we are analyzing a fictional character in a film, the observer is not affecting the observed object, because the observed object is fixed in time and actuality.
